Tzoumerka is an impressive mountainous area between the prefectures of Ioannina, Arta and Trikala. Mountains, canyons, rivers, waterfalls, beautiful authentic villages, snow-white peaks, kelarista rivers and beautiful lakes are the images that make up the Tzoumerka. Katarraktis is built at 800 meters above sea level, north of the city of Arta, in Tzoumerka. It consists of the main village, and in an area of 30,000 sq.m. includes four districts: Kriopigi, the Milea, the Sgara and Vlagkada. All settlements composing the community Katarraktis, that falls to Agnanta Arta. The oldest name of the village, until 1927, was Schoretsaina.

Then renamed and got its present name from the imposing twin waterfalls that are very short, slightly higher than the village, near the settlement of Kriopigi.
